We carry loads from Poland to Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and the whole north east of England: industrial components, structures, fit-out and groupage from a single pallet. Central Newcastle and Gateshead sit inside a Class C CAZ: heavy goods vehicles below Euro 6 pay 50 GBP a day, but our fleet meets the standard, so no charge applies. How does the CAZ affect deliveries in Newcastle?
For clients served by our Euro 6 fleet it creates neither costs nor paperwork. It does have one topographic trap: the zone boundary runs across the Tyne bridges, so merely crossing from Newcastle to Gateshead in a non-compliant vehicle triggers the charge, even without unloading in the centre. Planning multi-drop routes on both banks, we use the A1 bypass outside the zone and enter the centre only when a drop is actually there.
What do we carry to the north east?
The region has three clear pillars. The first is offshore energy: plants along the Tyne build subsea structures, cables and wind farm equipment, and deliveries to them mean heavy pallets, steel elements and components against factory slots. The second is the automotive belt around Sunderland with its dense supplier network: parts, pressings and components from Polish factories travel there. The third is the regular city market and retail, served by the warehouses of Team Valley in Gateshead, one of the region's largest trading estates. The Port of Tyne handles sea cargo, but our land route from Poland is independent of it.
What does the route from Poland look like?
After the Channel crossing the truck heads north: the M1, then the A1(M) all the way to Newcastle. It is one of the longer domestic legs in England, so we consolidate groupage at our Milton Keynes warehouse and send it north on regular lines. A single pallet travels as groupage LTL, a full set by FTL vehicle straight to the unloading point, urgent shipments by express van.
Newcastle and the neighbouring directions

What to remember for industrial deliveries in the region?
- Offshore and automotive plants work to slots: the booking and documents must be ready before the truck arrives.
- Heavy steel elements need the unloading agreed: an overhead crane, a high-capacity forklift or a crane truck on the receiver's side.
- Wind on the North Sea coast is a real factor for crane unloading; we leave a time margin.
- For Team Valley deliveries give the exact unit address, because the estate stretches for kilometres.
Teesside: chemicals and industry at the Tees mouth
An hour south of Newcastle lies the region's second industrial pole: Middlesbrough and the chemical belt at the mouth of the River Tees. Chemical and polymer plants receive deliveries under a regime of passes and inductions, and some loads fall under ADR rules: we prepare the classification and transport documents before loading in Poland, so the truck never stalls at the gate. We carry packaged raw materials, plant components and spare parts there, and collect finished goods. Teesside and Tyneside combine into one route: two industrial districts, one vehicle run.
Return loads from the north east
The region exports more than it seems: machined offshore components, automotive parts, chemical products and goods from the Team Valley warehouses. The truck finishing its Tyne drops picks up a collection from the same area and returns to Poland full, and through consolidation in Poland part of the goods continues to Czechia, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. For Polish importers that lowers the cost of bringing goods in; for the region's shippers it means predictable collections without hunting for an ad hoc carrier.
