The Expo Silesia exhibition centre on Braci Mieroszewskich street in Sosnowiec no longer operates. It ran from January 2008 until February 2021, when the owner announced the end of the trade fair business. The 13,500 sqm hall was dismantled, its steel structure sold and moved to another region of Poland, and a logistics park was built on the site. There is no official venue website.
What exactly happened
The venue opened on 10 January 2008 on the site of a former factory in the Zagorze district. It had a single air-conditioned pavilion of 13,500 sqm and around 20,000 sqm of outdoor display space, on a plot of over seventeen hectares with a further four hectares of parking. Over thirteen years it took around four hundred events, more than thirty-five thousand companies and seven hundred thousand visitors.
In February 2021, after a prolonged shutdown of the exhibition sector, the owner announced the end of the trade fair business and sold the site. In February 2022 the sale of the hall itself was announced: the 13,500 sqm structure was bought for 6.75 million zloty, to be moved several hundred kilometres to another region and re-erected, though not in full. A logistics centre was built on the plot.
Why this still matters
A venue name outlives the venue. Expo Silesia still appears in conference venue directories, in archived event material and in the records of companies that exhibited here before 2021. Typed into a transport order it sends a driver to an address where a warehouse now stands.
The domains add to the confusion. The Polish-suffix address now leads to an unrelated regional news portal, and the international one is listed for sale. Anyone who lands on the first of those sees a working site about Silesia and may conclude the venue exists. Checking that a venue website really belongs to the venue is essential here. Where trade fairs in this region are held now
The industrial events once held in Sosnowiec have dispersed to other venues in Poland. The south of the country is served above all by the Krakow venue, described in the article on Expo Krakow, while the largest industrial and trade events go to Kielce, Poznan and Nadarzyn near Warsaw. Our base in Kielce sits about 4 km from the fairground, so for an exhibitor moving from Sosnowiec to Kielce mainly the destination address changes, not the way the job runs.
In practice: if an organiser still uses the old name in their material, we ask for the full address of the venue where the event actually takes place. Silesia as a collection region rather than a venue
The region itself remains important to us, only in a different role. The Katowice conurbation is a dense hinterland of manufacturers and exporters from whom we collect loads bound for the British Isles, including exhibition stands and exhibits for shows in the United Kingdom. Collections in Silesia fold into the same pattern as collections in Czechia, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary: the load reaches the hub, one consignment is built there, and it leaves on the next scheduled line departure.

What to do if you were exhibiting here
- Ask the organiser for written confirmation of the venue and the full address.
- Check that the website you found belongs to the venue rather than to an unrelated service of the same name.
- Compare the stand design against the door dimensions of the new venue.
- Recalculate the route and transit time, because a change of venue can move the build-up window.
- Establish whether the new venue has docks or unloads at ground level.
What we do at our end
We collect stands and exhibits in Poland, including Silesia, and from exhibitors in Czechia, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary we gather the load through our hub. At the Kielce base, open around the clock, we assemble a stand into one consignment before departure. A groupage vehicle waits for the next scheduled line departure. For events in the United Kingdom, clearances run in cooperation with the customs agencies we work with regularly on both sides, and the load usually passes through a cross-dock at our warehouse in Milton Keynes. We commit to an hour at the gate rather than an hour of unloading.
