Targi Lublin operates at ulica Dworcowa 11 in Lublin and, on the company figures, offers more than 12,000 m² of exhibition space across two halls plus outdoor ground. In Lodz, the trade fair business at aleja Politechniki 4 is now run by the company Expo-Lodz; the name Miedzynarodowe Targi Lodzkie was changed in the register back in the previous decade, so searching for it today leads nowhere.
Targi Lublin: a venue beside the station
The Lublin centre has a layout rarely found in Poland: it stands immediately beside the railway station and the metropolitan bus station, while also having its own outdoor ground and car park. The company gives two halls, a larger and a smaller one, more than a thousand square metres of conference rooms and several thousand square metres of outdoor space, with around 600 parking places.
For a carrier the proximity of a transport interchange cuts both ways. On one hand the venue is easy to find and well connected for a build crew. On the other, the area around a station means city traffic, parking restrictions and public transport alongside, so entry is planned outside peak hours and the load must be ready to leave the vehicle the moment it stops. The set of constraints typical of such a location is described in our article on a city venue and its limits.
The eastern direction and what follows from it
The Lublin calendar covers agricultural, construction and energy events, that is shows with a real presence of machinery and structures. Location matters too: Lublin serves exhibitors from the Lublin region, Podkarpacie and Mazovia, and through the proximity of the eastern border it is a reference point for companies trading in that direction.
For our own work a different conclusion matters. An exhibitor from this region who travels from a Lublin event to a show in the United Kingdom need not take the display home first: our Kielce base gathers freight from southern and eastern Poland before dispatch westward. The mechanics of a season are described in our piece on one stand across several shows.
Lodz: what actually happened to Miedzynarodowe Targi Lodzkie
This is where most accounts go wrong, so here is the position that follows from the register. The company originally trading as Miedzynarodowe Targi Lodzkie first changed its name to a conference and exhibition centre and then, in 2013, to Expo-Lodz. A separate fair company that had earlier been split off from it was not wound up but taken over by another municipal entity, and it was struck from the register in 2018. The distinction matters: a takeover and a liquidation are different things, including in their effect on contracts.
The practical conclusion for an exhibitor is simple. If you are looking for Miedzynarodowe Targi Lodzkie, you are looking for a name that has not been in use for well over a decade. The venue at aleja Politechniki 4 is managed today by Expo-Lodz, a company with municipal ownership, whose site gives a total area of over thirteen thousand square metres, of which several thousand are exhibition space.
The centre of the country as a transport argument
Lodz lies at the geographical centre of Poland, on the main motorway corridors, and that is its strongest logistical asset. For an exhibitor it means similar journey times from very different parts of the country, and for the organiser of a national event shorter average journeys for participants. For a carrier it means one more thing: freight bound for a Lodz event is easy to fold into an existing line-haul flow, because the route passes nearby anyway.
The limits of scale are worth remembering, though. A venue of this size will not host a heavy industry programme on the scale of the largest centres, and unloading equipment can be in shorter supply. With a heavy exhibit the question about equipment goes to the organiser before dispatch, not after arrival; the consequences of skipping that step are described in our piece on unloading an oversized exhibit.
What the two venues have in common
At sites of this scale the same set of questions applies: the build-up window and vehicle notification procedure, availability of equipment, where the vehicle stands after unloading, and who receives the goods on the stand. The difference from the largest centres lies mainly in how much has to be arranged by the exhibitor, since a smaller event less often has extensive forwarding services on site. The division of roles between organiser, venue, exhibitor and carrier is described in our article on who is responsible for what at a trade fair, and the question of entry rights in the piece on the official fair forwarder versus your own carrier.
