From Krakow, Katowice and the whole Silesian conurbation we collect loads for England on a local vehicle during the day. In the evening the goods reach our hub in Kielce, where they consolidate with other consignments and leave on line-haul to the UK. Groupage from a single pallet, while full loads run straight from the sender's ramp with no hub detour.
How collection from southern Poland works
The Silesian conurbation and Krakow sit on the A4 motorway, the main east-west axis, and the S7 route runs from Krakow to our hub in Kielce. That is a little over a hundred kilometres, so a pallet collected in the afternoon is on the transhipment dock the same evening. At the hub the goods join consignments from other regions and leave on a line-haul vehicle towards the crossing. Fewer handling operations than in large pan-European networks means less damage risk and a shorter road from ramp to ramp. Full vehicles skip the hub: the trailer is positioned at the sender's premises and runs straight to the UK.
Where exactly we collect
We cover Krakow and the whole of Malopolska, Katowice with the Upper Silesian conurbation, that is Gliwice, Zabrze, Sosnowiec, Tychy and Chorzow, along with Bielsko-Biala, Oswiecim, Rybnik, Czestochowa and Jaworzno. We collect from production plants, distribution warehouses, logistics parks along the A4 and A1, and from small firms sending a single pallet. For a quote we need the address with postcode, because reaching a plant beside a motorway and a workshop in a city centre are two different operations.
What we carry from Silesia and Malopolska
- Automotive parts and components, since Silesia is a manufacturing base for the sector; slot deliveries are covered in our text on automotive transport.
- Steel structures, metal products and machinery, where mass rather than space is the limit; details in our text on metal products and steel.
- Construction chemicals, finishing materials and joinery for British sites.
- Furniture and interior fittings from regional manufacturers.
- Trade and e-commerce goods, including deliveries to warehouses in central England.
- Exhibition freight and exhibits heading to UK events.
Pallets, dimensions and pricing
For a quote we need three things: dimensions and weights of every item, whether the load can be double stacked, and addresses with postcodes at both ends. From that comes trailer occupancy, and it is clear whether we are talking groupage or a full vehicle. The arithmetic is covered in our text on loading metres, and the boundary between the options in the article FTL or LTL. What builds the cost is broken down in our text on what builds pallet transport pricing.
Customs: we run it alongside the carriage
Shipping to the United Kingdom requires an export declaration, an import declaration, safety data and a GMR for the crossing. Senders in southern Poland who until recently shipped to the UK as if it were Germany usually trip over exactly this. So we gather declaration data when taking the booking rather than after loading, and run customs together with the carriage. The whole process is covered in our guide transport to England step by step, and the document set in our text on export documents.
Why the Kielce hub suits the south
Kielce sits between Krakow and Warsaw with a direct exit from the S7. For senders in Malopolska and eastern Silesia it is one of the closest consolidation points for UK freight: a shorter local run, faster transhipment and goods on a line-haul vehicle the same day. The Kielce base has a ramp, forklifts and a vehicle-mounted crane, so it also handles awkward loads that no ordinary pallet truck will lift. We work the return direction too, which keeps rates sensible in both directions.
Where we deliver in England
Line-haul routes from Kielce run through the Channel crossing to Dover and inland from there. The most common destinations for senders in southern Poland are the Midlands with the warehouse belt around Birmingham, London and the south east, and the north along the M62. We cover them in our texts on transport to Birmingham, on transport to London and on transport to Liverpool and Leeds. For several consignees we build a multi-drop route rather than sending separate vehicles.
Sending from Krakow, Katowice, Gliwice or Bielsko? Send dimensions, weights and addresses through the quote form and we will plan a collection under groupage LTL or position a full vehicle. The regional base is described on the Kielce base page.
