How many pallets to the UK and how to count LDM

How to calculate loading metres (LDM) and how many EUR and industrial pallets fit in a trailer on the route to the United Kingdom.

An LDM (loading metre) is one metre of trailer length across the full 2.4 m width. A standard trailer holds 13.6 LDM. A EUR pallet (1.2 × 0.8 m) takes 0.4 LDM and an industrial pallet (1.2 × 1.0 m) takes 0.5 LDM — so roughly 33 EUR or 26 industrial pallets per truck.

How to count

  • EUR (1.2 × 0.8 m) — three across, 0.4 LDM each, up to about 33 units.
  • Industrial (1.2 × 1.0 m) — two across, 0.5 LDM each, up to about 26 units.
  • Height and weight: the payload limit and a 2.4–2.7 m height without stacking also apply.
  • Non-stackable pallets count as a full floor space.
LDM (Lademeter) is a running metre of load space taking the full trailer width; it is used to price groupage.

At OPTIMUS TRANSPORT we convert LDM when quoting groupage to the UK. See services and destinations.
