Euro vs industrial (UK) pallet

Euro vs industrial (UK) pallet

How a 1200x800 mm euro pallet differs from a 1200x1000 mm industrial one: dimensions, load, space counting (LDM) and trailer fit.

A euro pallet measures 1200x800 mm (the EPAL standard), while an industrial pallet, often used in the UK, measures 1200x1000 mm. The difference in depth changes how many pallets fit in a trailer and how loading metres (LDM) are counted, so pallet choice directly affects cost and truck use.

Key differences

  • Euro 1200x800 mm - the EPAL standard, common in the EU.
  • Industrial 1200x1000 mm - wider, common in the UK.
  • LDM - a loading metre describes the length of trailer floor used.
  • Typical pallet load depends on the build and the goods.
LDM (loading metre) is one metre of cargo-floor length across its full width, used to price space in a truck.
