The Hebrides — Outer (including North Uist, Lewis, Harris, Benbecula) and Inner (including Rum, Skye, Mull, Islay) — are part of Scotland, and therefore Great Britain. Clearance is the same as for GB, and we deliver to the islands mainly by CalMac ferries from the west coast of Scotland (Uig, Oban, Mallaig). We carry groupage from 1 pallet and full loads, planning the delivery around the sailing.
Customs status: as for Great Britain
The Hebrides have no separate customs status — they are an integral part of the UK. From Poland there is one clearance on entry to Great Britain (post-Brexit: ENS, GMR, import documents), and UK VAT applies. The challenge is logistical: many islands, different ferry ports and schedules that depend on the weather.
CalMac ferries and planning the delivery
- North Uist and the Outer Hebrides — ferries from, among others, Uig (Skye) and Oban.
- Rum and the Small Isles — from Mallaig.
- Skye — a road bridge (Skye Bridge) or ferry, so some deliveries travel without a sailing.
- For smaller consignments we consolidate the load and deliver it for a specific CalMac ferry.
What we carry to the Hebrides
Cargo for companies, shops and farms, materials, equipment, groupage and full loads. We run clearance within the order (customs clearance). Neighbouring destinations — Shetland and Orkney and transport to Scotland — are covered separately; all islands are gathered in the Islands direction.
Sending goods to North Uist, Rum, Skye or another Hebridean island? Write to us — give the island and port, the number of pallets and the date, and we will match the route and the sailing.
