Cargo inspection after trailer tampering

Knowledge base

Cargo inspection after trailer tampering

What to do when unauthorised people were in the trailer or cargo was damaged — and what the report for the insurer looks like.

After trailer tampering (e.g. stowaways) or cargo damage it is best to send the goods for inspection before further distribution. OPTIMUS TRANSPORT checks the state of the goods, assesses fitness for sale or consumption, performs repack and pallet rebuilding, and prepares a photo report for the client and the insurer.

Why it matters

  • With food, tampering can mean a sanitary risk (precautionary principle, Regulation 178/2002).
  • A photo report is standard evidence when reporting a claim.
  • Recovery cuts downtime and saves the cargo’s value.
